Dana Point Outdoor Smoking Ban

On January 16th, 2018 Dana Point City Council passed an ordinance prohibiting smoking outdoors at all public places in Dana Point.

After receiving model ordinances successfully utilized by other Surfrider chapters, the Dana Point City Council agendized and passed a no smoking in public places ordinance throughout the City of Dana Point. This will significantly reduce cigarrette butt litter in the urban and surrounding beach areas of Dana Point.

Check out the great media coverage from the OC Register, CBS LA and Dana Point Times.

Cigarette butts are made from plastic but it's not just a matter of unsightly trash and litter. Toxins from cigarettes collect on the filter and are then washed out into our waterways and the ocean. Click Here for more info on cigarette butt litter.

The Surfrider Foundation South Orange County Chapter worked with the Surfrider Youth Club at Dana Hills High School and the American Lung Association/Orange County on this Coastal Victory.
